Why choose IGUMA

Tested By BRANZ

IGUMA members are the only double glazing suppliers whose units have been independently tested to the recognised international standard, at a sophisticated IGUMA facility here in New Zealand.

All IGUMA members produce double glazing to meet or exceed the performance levels of the British Standard BS5713, one of the most stringent used internationally and considered the best suited to New Zealand conditions.

Test units of double glazing from your IGUMA member have been tested by BRANZ (the Resource Centre for Building Excellence) and certified to that standard. Before IGUMA prompted the establishment of the rigorous testing facility, New Zealand operated to no recognised standard.

At the sophisticated BRANZ testing facility, double glazing is exposed to accelerated weathering simulation

To reach the BS5713 standard, the modern unit must part all six parts of the test:
bullet

visual examination

bullet

initial dew point test

bullet

weather cycling test

bullet

initial seal test

bullet

fogging test by ultraviolet exposure

bullet

high humidity cycling test

The test subjects units to rapid temperature variations between +52 and -15° C, with cyclic humidity, water sprays and exposure to UV light.

Manufacturers whose units pass this test know how to make double glazing!
