IGUMA Double Glazing Manufacturing Members

Only manufacturers who comply with the rules of the Insulating Glass Manufacturers' Association (IGUMA) may be members and claim IGUMA membership. An Insulating Glass Unit (IGU) is the sealed double glazing unit.

The IGUMA:

- sets the level of product testing required.

- acts as the lead authority for  the insulating glass industry

- develops voluntary guidelines for industry practice

- provides educational forums

- directs applied research

- promotes the use of insulating glass (double glazing) in New Zealand

Testing and Certification

IGUMA requires all members to meet the test requirements as set out in IGUMA-EN1279. The testing is carried out by an independent body, BRANZ Ltd.

The rigorous testing and scheduled re-testing of members' products is key to customer satisfaction with our members' products. The testing status of each member is reviewed at the regular industry meetings and the status is reported on this webpage.

Why Regular Testing is Important

The IGUMA-EN1279 testing is undertaken by an independent internationally recognised Wellington based Building Materials testing laboratory. Test Standard EN1279 is an internationally recognised European Standard that demonstrates the long-term durability of the Insulating Glass Unit.  IGUMA-EN1279 testing is combined with a sophisticated production line quality management system. The quality management system is externally audited by 3rd party accreditation agencies who are usually the same professional auditing team that certify the Safety Glass Manufacturing.

IGUs manufactured by IGUMA members and tested to IGUMA-EN 1279 meet NZ Building Code Durability (B2) requirements.

Long-term durability of an IGU is important to ensure:

- Building Energy Efficiency is maintained to provide New Zealand Building Code Clause H1 performance

- Thermal Insulation is maintained to prevent heat loss

- Solar Heat Gain is controlled as required to prevent overheating

- Visibility and sound reduction properties are maintained

- Structural Stability is maintained under wind loads.

- Structural Stability and safety is maintained under human impact loads

IGUMA Certified IGU production means fewer problems and a longer life of the double glazing unit.

IGUMA Members and Testing Status

as at 15 February 2012

Note:

All IGUMA members are listed here and are deemed compliant as long as they are following the IGUMA testing rules.  In the early months of membership, the test reports reflect the initial short tests that precede the full tests which are much longer in duration. Any member that is not following the IGUMA testing rules for any reason, is demoted to the status of provisional members, until their test results confirm compliance with IGUMA-EN1279.

The Window Association of New Zealand Constitution and Rules require its members to use only those IGU’s that are tested and comply with IGUMA-EN1279

All IGUMA members are subject to random manufacturing audits in addition to the above.
